a 4runner friday

friday night my neighbour and trusty backyard mechanic mike and his buddy dave says to me "we are going 4bying at 6:00. wanna come?" i said "yes". so off we went up oyama lake rd. about 5 k up the road, we left the road in favour of some sweet trails none of us had explored. these are their stories...

first was a greasy uphill.  time to use the 4wd.  dave didn't have quite enough momentum had had to stop and air down half way up.  i learned from him and fully committed in 2nd gear.  the rain made it sketchy but pretty doable.

a weird place to stop, but not much choice.

the trail was a lot of thick bush.  time for some backroads pinstripes.

theres a trail here somewhere?
since the trail was more for bikes and quads, a chainsaw was needed in a few spots.

making the road
we pushed on, and had to turn around a few times.  sometimes it was a fence that stopped us, other times it had degraded too much.

a bit of mud.  not as much as i expected from all the rain
the biggest obstacle was all the brush.  folded in the mirrors and plowed through.

trail in there somewhere.
about 830 we stopped for a fire.  it wasn't far off the road, but it wasn;t trashed and there wasn't garbage everywhere.  thats rare for a sweet spot like this.

2 stock trucks.  0 problems
Mike is the master fire lighter.  even with a 0% chance of dry wood, he got the fire ripping.

the fire.  ripping.
we got home all safe and good.  1st thing in the morning was to remove the rear sway bar.  that thing just cramps my style.  no longer.

sway bar removed.
on an unrelated note... for sale.  1 rear sway bar.  $20.

It was an epic trip with some cool doods.  not sure where next, but you should come.
