back up to and down to christie falls

some people i know had never been to christie falls.  time to break them in.  kris, louie, mary and i headed up there.  we took a road up we had never taken before.  good road.  some big holes.  it was some good old remembrance day fun.

finding our new road.

it wasn;t a long drive up, maybe an hour and a bit.  i love going on new roads, so it was awesome in that way.  new lines on the map.

this way up afforded us sweet views of the lake and carrs landing across the lake.

it got a bit snowy near the top.  maybe like an inch or so.  no 4x4 necessary.

we got to the trailhead about 2:00 and started down right away.  it wasnt cold or anything, but light was fading.

hiking trough the old fire area.

heading down the ropes.

as the falls came into view i got all excited.  it's one of my favourite hikes and favourite views.  i got all awesome feeling about it just remembering.  the colder temperatures got the falls starting to freeze.

still as awesome as ever.  even not falling.
the top 100 feet was frozen and just a little trickle down the rest of the way.  maybe 150 feet from the bottom if the ice to the ground.

once the sun was clearly about to leave the temperature dropped even more.  time for us to head back.

louie navigating the icy trail

the spray from the falls covered everything in a cool icy layer.

back up the ropes.  looking extreme.

we got back up and right then a sweet superbee went tearing by us.

we celebrated the awesome hike in the usual fashion.  a big roaring fire and some smokies.  another awesome trip in the books.
