IMPORTANT!!! This is private property. many people choose not to believe that or to disregard exactly what that means. Bad karma will come to the disregarders. I found out who owns it, called him up and explained that we just wanted to adventure time to it. he said ok. if you want to go here, do that too. or bad karma to you.
Kris and i hopped in the truck and off we went. Not gonna say much about exactly where this place is, but we could drive to it and it wasn't far away.
We pulled in an were immediately awenomified. this place was cool. it still is cool, but definitely not as cool as it was 20 years ago when it was in action. apparently about 25 people all lived here. lots of activity. judging by some of the buildings, they also had a LSD tree growing somewhere.
told you it was crazy |

we continued our very self-guided tour and came to this place. terraced a-frames. cool.
All over there was crazy stuff. all rusted and busted, but maybe that was part of the cool.
There was this barn style building. 3 story balcony on the back, ship style bow. the whole thing was over 1000 square feet. unfortunately, the tree across it was pretty damaging.
We spent about 4 hours walking around and then back to the truck. While we were chilling there a few other people came by. one of them was Mary, who had been driving all over the place trying to find us. them some good skills Mary has. Another was a dood who knew a lot about the place. He took us all on another tour and it quickly became obvious that in the 4 hours kris and i spent looking around, we only saw half the place.
Here are some more pictures.
That silver place was crazy. all covered in what turned out to be printing sheets from the old daily courier printing process. There were thousands of these things. Theres a pic a bit below showing it up close.
Some of the insides were in surprisingly good , like that one above. dry wall was still dry.
One of the places we totally missed on the first time around were the saunas. yes, plural. There was a dry one and a steam one.

There were infinity things to take pictures of and check out. enough to warrant a return mission. There is also more info around if you are interested. good hunting.
One last thing, and it's a biggie. I forgot to mention that the place is one again inhabited. by rats. big ones. Every building that was standing was clearly home to some big freaking rats. We talked about what it would take to bring this place back to working and sadly, the answer is a big blow torch. despite the cool factor of this place, it's done. but it's for sale if you are feeling ambitious..
good thing mary showed up, i stole most of these pictures from her. thanks again.
