let make some woodchips in the middle of no where

Why not take some chainsaws for a hike in the bush?  good idea.  tom, kris, mary and i strapped on snowshoes and headed off on to a lake that was not as frozen as usual.

tom and i out in front.

we started by crossing the lake and exploring a little creek that was still open.  it hasn't been cold this year.  we got a big dump of snow once, but i think the snow levels are below average.

checking out a cool little creek
we got to a cool spot that didn't have enough saw dust on the ground, so we set to work.  kris found a tree that was too tall, so he showed it.  mary lit a fire, tom chopped wood and i used my new chainsaw to make chips on the ground.

we messed around in the bush for a few hours.  actually, a lot of hours.  it was good times.

once it was all dark, it was time to head back.  we found these tracks that certainly were not there on our way in.

something big was following us.
the trek back across the lake was super cool in the foggy mist. whatever left those tracks could have been 10 feet away and we'd never see it.

so we found a cool spot.  one that we will certainly be back to.  it was sweet to get to hook up with tom in the bush again.  it had been a while since we were on an outside adventure together.  thanks to mary for the pictures.
