tarps, campfires, truck 3 and bikes

This weekend 4 of us loaded up bikes and camping gear in truck 3 and headed north for some camping and biking.  this was truck 3's maiden adventure, so it was important.

wood (thanks norm) and bikes and sitch.

we took the long and back way to oyama lake, were we planned to spend the night.

jessie and louie in the rearview.
while we were there, the ranger came by to verify that we could in fact have fires.  goods thing, we were hungry.
mary and the friendly park guy.  take that, sign!!

spaghetti was such a raging success last trip to beaver lake, we decided to have it as aur feature menu item of the evening once again.  we assumed there would be a grate to put our pots on.  there was not.  luckily we are the masters of improvisation, so a bike repair stand and a shifter cable were called into service and did the job perfect.

we did bring tents, but why set them up when the weather is sweet and you have 2 tarps.  no tents it is then.

mmmmm. dirt camping
the morning was awesome, but a bit delayed.  we were hoping to get to silverstar for some lift riding.  better hurry then.

as we were leaving, a '70 challanger went ripping by.  managed to get a picture.

No trip up or down oyama lake would be complete without the mandatory viewpoint stop.  so we stopped.

While we were there, some doods shooting guns let us put an army man on one of their "special" targets.  apparently 12 bucks a target or something.

seems like a safe place to stand.
something about the target was very explosive.  we didn't even bother looking for army guy parts.

bye bye army guy
we heard that the lifts at silverstar closed at 2, and that info was part of a decision to ride somewhere else.  we had packed up our bikes, we were gonna use them.  postil is close by, so why not check it out.
the challanger met us at postil wall ride.

turns out postil is not really much of a trail anymore.  the wood is super broken in a lot of places, the wall ride was unridable, and the sandy chutes were death trenches or rock and dust.  mega bummer.  we rode it anyway.  i fell.  my leg was bleeding.

coming into the sand pit.
we closed the adventure with some chilling at the pit at the bottom of the trail.  despite not making it to silverstar, an epic time was had.  truck 3 did awesome. and sweet people had sweet times.  thanks to kris and mary for some of these pictures.

new shovel mount on truck 3
next weekend is labour day long weekend, so expect some adventures once again.
