a weekend on beaver lake

time to get out the canoes and stuff and head to beaver lake for some dirt camping.  that means we left the tents at home.

big waves and wind.

the trip started innocently enough, until the crazy wind and 4 foot waves raged up.  kris and mary made record time heading towards the camp, until a crazy wave came and cruize (the dog) decided he had enough of it and bailed from the canoe.  the hero of the trip was kris, who jumped into the lake and waves and most certainly saved his dog's life.

once the dust and heart rates settled, we unpacked on the island and surveyed the familiar surroundings.  one thing that would be missing from this trip was a fire.  crazy dry in the okanagan and campfires were out.
the usual spot.  note the lonely fire pit.
part of the island recon brought us here to dry out in the sun

once we had checked it all out, it was time to set up.  we chose the trusty green tarp to keep the elements off us.  we chose wisely it turns out.

our house is a very very very fine house

cruise was not impressed with his unplanned swim
we cooked up some sweet dinner, shot a ton of pellets and generally had a time.  soon, it was time to get horizontal in our cozy new abode.

i slept super good, and as usual, was the first one up (no guilt trip at all).  breakfast was bacon, eggs and potatoes on the trusty camping stove.  somehow we managed to stretch breakfast into a 2 and a half hour event.  good times.
then it was time to do more shooting.  i think we went through about 900 pellets this trip.  not a record, but pretty close.

pull!!!!

headshots were plentyful
around 4 it was time once again to say bye to our beloved island.  the wind and waves were calm, and even a bit of a tail wind.  back to civilization... well at least as civilized as we get.

heading back.
another awesome adventure in the books.  thanks to mary for some of the pics.  not sure when the next adventure will be, but rest assured, it will be.  you should come.
