1st run in the snow

sunday was time to see how much snow was in the mountains. we could see it from our window at home, but mike, kris and i needed to experience it for ourselves. 1st hand.

going up beaver lake rd.

The snow started about 6 km up beaver lake road.  the road went from muddy to slick and white pretty quickly.

our 1st stop was beaver lake forestry site.  we had 1st tracks in, and that was pretty darn cool.  this was also the place where cruise, kris's dog, got his first taste of snow.

Then it was off again.  we headed further up beaver lake rd, trying to decide where to go and have a fire, cook hotdogs and shoot stuff.  we spotted alex rd.  a road i had never been on before.  it was 4x4 all the way through some low hanging trees and 12 inches of snow.

getting into some deeper stuff
it was snowing up there and super fun.  we kept on driving and finally came out and back onto familiar roads near oyama lake.

sweet tracks in deep snow and new roads.  prefect combonation

marshes are freezing up
The lakes were starting to freeze over, but weren't solid yet.  at least another month and a bit before ice fishing is a possibility.

we stopped at damer lake and had a fire.  a cool small spot on a small lake.  we didn't see anyone else, and thats a good thing.

after the hotdogs were gone and our shoulders were sore from shooting the 12ga, we packed up and headed back down.  a great day in the snow.  should be more snow and more adventures next weekend.  you should come.
