1 weekend, lots of adventure

friday and saturday night were full of 4x4ing.  but because it was night, there is a distinct lack of light for good photos.  i certainly tried, but the only ones that turned out were of the aftermath that awaited me in the driveway in the morning.

muddy good times.

we watched a full size suburban be fully stuck in mud deeper than its 37" tires, had sweet fires and met up with some cool people.

good thing the wipers work
most of the time was spent up postil and when the 4x4 dust and mud finally settled sunday morning, mud was everywhere, and nothing was broken.  a raging success.

everything we need and then some.
Sunday afternoon it was time to change gears a bit.  christine had not been in the new canoe yet, so sunday was the day.  i put the canoe on the muddy truck and we headed down to duck lake.

enjoying the sun
it was sunny and warmish.  a perfect day to be out on a flat lake.  we paddled around the lake and up a creek that was FULL of ducks.  every corner we went around huge flocks took off.  we tried to be stealthy, but the crazy ducks were having no part of us.  pretty cool though.  sorry ducks.

up the creek
we'd seen some great grey owls up the creek a few years ago, but no dice this time.  a great paddle anyway.  the water was a bit low, so we couldn't go as far up as we had in the past.

time to head back
we got back with time to enjoy the remainder of the daylight.  might be the last paddle trip of the year.  might not be.  the canoe isn't put away yet.
