New (to me) canoe

So we bought a canoe. it was part birthday present, part anniversary present. It's a 15 foot penwood canoe (now named pen 15), made in penticton. I bought it off a super religious guy for $400. It's maiden voyage was a trip around duck lake in winfield. a nice flat 8km to get used to it and try it out. Expect many more canoe adventure to come!

A Manitoba Canoe trip

I found myself back in Manitoba for 2 weeks the july. decided that 3 days of that trip needed to be devoted to canoeing to snowshoe lake. Mark, Jeff and I set out Canada Day and had a sweet trip. Good food, scenery, camp spots, paddling and swimming.

Day 1 was a race to elbow lake. we were expecting a seriously busy lake and no camp spots. it wasnt as busy as we expected and we got a prime spot.




Day 2 was sailing and paddling from elbow lake into snowshoe lake. about 17km 1 way. we fought a brutal headwind for the last 5 km. got back to camp, ate and had a great sleep.

Day 3, back to the truck. played in some rapids. good times.
